Oooh, we're moving from jazz to African beats. The first person who comes to mind is Nneka from Nigeria who beautifully combines both power and femininity, similarly shown in this wine with its pungent black spice, intense jasmine and violet aromas and lovely dark fruit. But in the mouth, Morcheeba comes to mind, with an equally sultry, funky and feminine mouthfeel as Nnaka, but eluding to less power and softer elegance. Dry tannins, soft acidity and long dark fruit finish, I'd love to enjoy this beside a roaring fire and full moon.

rckr1951 You could come here, where it's a semi-full moon and RAINING again.

Touch of funk on this with nice freshly cracked black pepper, curry? and other interesting treats. In the mouth this wine is lush, seriously tasty with a bit of drying tannins which take away from the over all lush character. Note some wood here, some place, but really the fruit is pure. If only the tannins did not dry out the front palate this wine would be lovely. That said it's definitely drinkable and I think a few slices of steak might help with them tannins! :)

Better than the 2006 and the 2007 this wine has it all, a good nose, and a matching finish.
