Appearance: green gold in colour, fine mousse. Nose: nose has complex mix of fruits (mainly citrus in character) with yeast and biscuity notes. Although developed, it's still pretty youthful on the nose, however. Palate: palate has high well-balanced acidity and is almost tight (a Champagne that needs decanting? Might be a messy business). Conclusion: there's no hurry to drink up this 1988. This is obviously very high quality, but I’m much more a Pol Roger, Bollinger, Krug kind of Champagne lover (not forgetting Egly-Ouriet, Vilmart etc. etc.). Drink now to 2018.
