  Note: This wine was tasted blind at Franciscan Estate, Napa Valley as part of a tasting of wines from the Icon Estates portfolio (owned by Constellation): Appearance: very dark purple. Nose: an overtly oaky nose with high alcohol that takes a while to settle down in the glass. Dark, even dried fruits (like prune) come to the fore. Palate: clearly high alcohol, big chewy tannic structure, medium acidity, more fruit on the palate than on the nose. With aeration becomes more complex. Conclusion: this was so dark-fruit dominated that I did think it might be a GSM blend from Australia in which Mourvedre had the upper-hand.
