Review for Estancia Pinot Gris, Central Coast, California 2007

White wine produced by Estancia in Central Coast, United States

Note: This wine was tasted blind at Franciscan Estate, Napa Valley as part of a tasting of wines from the Icon Estates portfolio (owned by Constellation): Appearance: light green. Nose: restrained first nose, with quite grapey fruit, then the pear quality of Pinot Gris showing through. Palate: medium-high acidity, quite plush pear fruit, balanced relatively high alcohol – again, the wine weighs in at 13.5%. Not bad length. Conclusion: this I did guess as Pinot Gris – having enjoyed the Clos du Bois Pinot Grigio the day before – although was unsure as to country/region. Drink now.
