What a delight, I joined Paul in his 1000th review and this was the premier wine of the evening. I haven't had a Calif. Cab this good since I tried the 1969 Gallo Vintner Reserve Cab years ago. The nose finds dark berry, cherry, spiceand a hint of cappaccino. The TASTE while extrordinary finds tobacco, cherries, dark berries, truffles, a finish of yellow grapefruit. There was, after letting it sit a while, a bright hit on the back of the throat of "apple pie spice" (mace, cinnamon, & nutmeg). For a cabernet this has a refreshing brightness with a very clean finish. Again to be redundant, THIS WAS AWESOME.

rckr1951 Interesting that you mention the Gallo. They've recently restarted their Signature Series Cabernet and the '08 is getting some really good reviews.

Stunning in it's complexity and depth. Dark berry fruits, blackberry, sweet cassis, vanilla, dark cappucino, anise, dark chocolate and a distinct forest note. All on the nose - tremendous complexity here. The palate sees, or rather tastes, forest berries, earthiness, dark truffles, vanilla, creme de cassis, nutmeg - brown spice, yellow grapefruit - all in all the most complete domestic cabby I've ever experienced. OUTSTANDING. Perfect for my `1,000th review. Drink now through 2017 - Paul
