I haven't had a Bonarda since June 2005, and that wine was from the Colli Piacentini DOC, at my sister's wedding in Italy. Over there it is quite a common grape, and it can be vinified from dry to sweet and sparkling. In Argentina, where it was probably introduced by Italian immigrants, it is the second most planted variety after Malbec. The 2008 Tilia Bonarda has a deep purple color with stewed prunes, blackberry and meaty notes on the nose. It is full bodied and dry with a nice fruity flavor and round tannin. On the palate it shows ripe dark berries, licorice and black pepper. It has a good structure, but it finishes short; however, at $8.99 retail price, I'm going to try their Malbec and Chardonnay for sure.

rckr1951 You guys and your bonardas. It's a varietal that hard to find up here in the great northwoods. Guess I should get up off my lazy butt and order some online!
