Appearance: dark purple-red with slight orange rim. Nose: very attractive nose of bright red and black fruits on the first nose – some cassis, but also bramble and red and black plums – with cedar wood, various spices, complex oak. Becomes more ‘secondary’ with aeration: some lovely mushroom and earthier aromas combining with quite opulent, if restrained, fruit. Palate: lovely quality of fruit here (mainly black fruits on the palate), coating fine-grained high tannins, lifting medium acidity with integrated high alcohol. Very good length. Conclusion: primarily showing lovely fruit, integrated oak and, despite some secondary notes, only just beginning to develop. Approachable now, but will be even better from 2016. Very good.
