Review for Bürklin-Wolf Riesling Gaisböhl ‘Grand Cru’, Pfalz 2002

edwardragg Wine Blogger March 21, 2009
Appearance: dark gold. Nose: developed baked apple and quince nose with some mineral flavours, but with more of a washed-rind cheese and later honeysuckle kind of nose emerging. Complex. Palate: lovely concentration of fruit on the palate with high acidity, balanced residual sugar, great intensity of flavour and very good length. Conclusion: this is a superb German Riesling from a region which is often overlooked. Excellent year, excellent vineyard. Ageing well, but will still develop. Drink now to 2017 (should survive happily beyond then too).
