Review for Bürklin-Wolf Wachenheimer Böhlig Riesling Reserve Auslese 1990

edwardragg Wine Blogger March 21, 2009
Appearance: darkish gold. Nose: complex honeyed first nose with hazelnut, lingering melon, quince and even peach fruit with some further savoury aromas (that real washed-rind cheese quality older German Riesling develops). Not so much of the petroleum note you might expect. Palate: mellowed residual sugar (almost tastes dry and may have been a drier style of Auslese to begin with), mellowed high acidity, very long. Conclusion: this is clearly an excellent aged Auslese. Love it! Drink now (although it will still hold if necessary).
