Review for Tyrrell’s Futures Semillon, Hunter Valley 1986

From the Landmark Tutorial Day 3 (22nd Sept 2010), ‘Semillon’ presented by Andrew Thomas. Appearance: pretty deep gold. Nose: toasted, hugely complex first nose with lingering mellowed citrus fruit (more lemon than lime in this and other older examples). Lanolin and waxy notes as well as a mineral dimension emerge with aeration. Very attractive! Palate: gorgeous, mellowed medium-high acidity with moderate alcohol and a huge complex of savoury flavours as per on the nose. Very well-balanced and very long. Conclusion: this is a brilliant example of aged Hunter Semillon from a master producer. Drinking very well now.
