Review for Quinta Nova 2008

edwardragg Wine Blogger May 17, 2010
Appearance: dark purple. Nose: very floral dark fruits of various types. The fruit sings in the absence of oak. Palate: high ‘bracing’ tannins, lovely acidity and very good fruit with an impressive balance of alcohol to fruit. Well-integrated with good length. Conclusion: a blend of Tinta Roriz, Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional and Tinta Cão, ‘Colheita’ typically describes aged Tawny Port from a single vintage – that’s the Brit in me coming out! Here it signifies that the wine is aged for 1 year in stainless steel (mostly for softening, not markedly oxidative purposes). Approachable, certainly, but would repay cellaring. From 2012.
