Review for Phat Wine Co. ‘Hart & Hunter’ Single Vineyard Oakey Creek Semillon, Hunter Valley 2010

edwardragg Wine Blogger September 22, 2010
From the Landmark Tutorial Day 3 (22nd Sept 2010), ‘Semillon’ presented by Andrew Thomas. Appearance: light green. Nose: delicate green apple and lime fruit that becomes increasingly intense with aeration. No lanolin or ‘toasted’ note at this point. It’s very youthful. Palate: incredibly flavourful palate of green apple, lime, even pear with a wonderful line of high bracing acidity through the middle. Alcohol is low to moderate and the wine has very good length. Conclusion: it’s possible to enjoy this wine now – e.g. with oysters or other seafood – but its fruit quality and acid balance suggest a very long life ahead. This will be a truly very good Hunter Semillon in time from a very new producer. Watch this space.
