Purchased at Sunflower Market in Tempe AZ, $5.99, 13.5% alcohol. Redwood Creek is inconsistent, but a $6 Lodi Zin? No hesitation. Deep black-purple garnet in the glass, VERY narrow orange ring. Blackberry, plum and other dark fruit on the nose, wood & mineral dust. Distant smoky, spicy background. Good dose of blackberry, cherry & dark fruit juice, soft tannins, adequate acidity. There's a slight medicinal quality to the juice which detracts. The medium finish adds a bit of chewy caramel. Definitely some nice character to this wine, but still....in the end it's a $6 Zin. Worth the price, but not much more, and that's OK.

moose I guess there's lots of average wine from Lodi - but I have a soft spot for the place. I;m smiling at your word 'medicinal' - but a bit worried too!
