I'm not doing a vertical tasting on Syrah Cortes de Cima but I will compare it with the 2003 vintage, tasted a few days ago. Again, a dark ruby and purple color, deep, intense, almost black in the glass. It took a while to open up, compared to the 2003. A whole lot more time. The nose is very much fresh fruit. It begins with some toast, blackcurrant, and fruit. There is an underlying herbal tone to it. Latter on, smoke surfaces, together with some floral sweetness. The palate is immensely different from the 2003. It is fresh, with marked acidity, and round tannins. It's mostly ripe fruit, a touch of wood with some mineral to it, medium body and finish. It is an enjoyable, versatile wine. I can't say for sure "drink now" or "wait another year". I think it will evolve, become smoother, but I doubt it will be as complex and structured as the 2003 vintage.

airdiogo Can't you find it in the US Paul?

rckr1951 No I can't find it at all. I used the wine-searcher pro and there are a couple of places listed in England but nothing here. The problem with several of the places that sell CdC wines is that they are smaller shops that ship out as a sideline. As a result they only carry 1 or 2 of the CdC wines and their shipping is sky high. Nobody in the state of Wisconsin has them at all.

lilianarosa Paul, last time I checked, it was almost impossible to mail a wine bottle to the US. Is it still that hard?
