Few signs of ageing other than a slight softening of the colour. Silky, sensual nose of figs, cocoa, sweet spices, bacon fat and liquorice. Enveloping and velvety mouthfeel, expressing a bewildering array of flavours - the fruit component now more reminiscent of port, with secondary sensations such as treacle, cloves, wood smoke and pine needles, and the gentle remnants of classic Priorat minerality on the finish. The typical tannicity and vibrant astringency of Priorat has now softened into an impressive, mature and satisfyingly complex experience. This wine has perhaps aged more rapidly than expected, but it was kept in less than ideal conditions for the first five or six years. However, there's no doubting that this is a splendid wine and it augurs well for other mid-late 90s Priorats of the same quality. 94-95 points.
