Review for Champagne Le Mesnil Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru 2000

edwardragg Wine Blogger January 22, 2009
Appearance: light to medium gold. Nose: incredibly toasty nose – much toastier than on the NV resulting from sustained yeast contact required for a vintage wine – backed up with mellowed lemon citrus and also some hazelnut notes as the toast aerates. Palate: lovely palate with sensitive dosage, integrated high acidity, lovely fruit and autolytic toasty complexity with considerable length. Conclusion: this is a very good vintage Blanc de Blancs that is only just beginning to drink, if at all. Although approachable, if this were my wine I would hold on to several bottles and drink from 2010 onwards.
