Review for Springfield Estate ‘The Work of Time’, Robertson 2005

edwardragg Wine Blogger February 25, 2009
Appearance: dark purple-red, fairly marked orange rim. Nose: very perfumed first nose with savoury dark fruits (black plum, blackberry, blackcurrant) with some secondary aromas of mushroom, leather, even mature washed-rind cheese. Palate: fine tight medium grainy tannins, lovely fruit, medium acidity, balanced medium-high to high alcohol with very good length. Conclusion: a mix of Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, this ‘Bordeaux-blend’ is already developing well and is clearly high quality. Drink now or hold to 2015, depending on preference.
