I am happy to have found a cheap wine (which I like) which also takes asian sweet and sour dishes in its stride and is positively good with more savoury oriental dishes. The wine is very pale, blended from unusual grapes, and has a mixture of north european reserved grape flavour and tropical syrupy aromas. It stays dry on the palate, though, but has enough fruitiness to remain attractive. Nice enough on its own, better still with the sort of food I have mentioned. Three Choirs have been around for a few decades, I think, and are starting to produce some noteworthy wines these days. Definitely the quality end of the English market, if not quite the best.
