  Appearance: medium purple-red. Nose: surprisingly animal, perhaps even brett-affected in this bottle. Not what I expected certainly. Fruit lurking in the background. What’s happened? Palate: spiky tannins, mute fruit, very animal. Certainly not TCA-affected, but not right in this bottle. Conclusion: I’m giving this the benefit of the doubt, but cannot rate this particular bottle highly. I’m actually a fan of Chapoutier, but wasn’t able to taste another bottle on this occasion. I post this note in case anyone else has witnessed a similar reaction/experience.
