Review for Cardeal Reserva Touriga Nacional 2007

    scott January 30, 2012
Another one in the Touriga Nacional series. The Dão Reserva is bright ruby on the glass, with a purple hue. Unfiltered, has a few particles. The nose is fragrant and rich: fruity, with toasty notes from the oak and a floral background. Its palate is predominately spicy and earthy, sprinkled with ripe fruit. It holds the distinguishable Touriga Nacional sweetness that I'm highly fond of, resembling ripe fruit and raisins. Medium-bodied, with fine tannins. Lengthy and drying finish, in which the oaky flavors linger in the tongue. In my opinion, the oak is a little over the top and dominates too much - the only reason why I didn't give it a 4 out of 5. Overall, good wine, great value, and I'm quite convinced on Touriga Nacional.
