Purchased at The Williamsburg Winery in Williamsburg VA, 13% alcohol, $14.00. 50% Cabernet France, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, 10% Petit Verdot. Also purchased after the tour & tasting. This wasn't in the tasting, but it was recommended and I liked the blend. Deep purple garnet color, pink ring. Brambly berry and oak on the nose, hints of vanilla, plum, green olive & fennel. Chewy juice right off the bat with deep grape and berry characters; plenty of oak, maybe too much. Oaky tannins flow through the mid-palate and taper into a medium fruit finish with a flourish of mineral acidity at the end. It's a hearty, girthy wine with a lot to like; just a bit too much wood for me at the moment. Should be a fitting companion to BBQ & smoked meats, and aged cheese. Such food might neutralize the oak. High-quality juice which is NOT your typical Cali blend, nor should it be - Virginia has her own personality!
