Review for Rolly Gassmann Gewurztraminer, Rorschwihr, Alsace 2004

edwardragg Wine Blogger January 22, 2009
Appearance: medium green-gold. Nose: beautiful ‘Gewurz nose’ with delicate lychee fruit, rose petal perfume, but also some pear and orange blossom. Complex. Palate: essentially dry with lovely fruit, lifting medium acidity – enough to support the glycerol fat and richness of flavour Gewurztraminer can confer – and lovely length. Conclusion: I love Rolly Gassmann’s Gewurztraminers. Delightful when young, superb with age, they are among Alsace’s best. Drink now or hold to 2012.
