The 2007 Las Rocas Viñas Viejas exhibits a gorgeous deep purple color and well as aromas of forest fruit, wet leather, spice bouquet, and truffles. On the palate flavors of spice, pepper, and ripe fruits give way to light minerality. This wine is nicely complex with a rich and lengthy finish. I drank this wine with a homemade black bean and beef chili. The spiciness of the chili paired nicely with the flavors of the wine and both complemented each other quite well.

Is berry, berry good. This has a tremendous bouquet. As you look down into the medium ruby juice the sharp pungent aromas of citrus zest, tast red bing cherry, red currant, black olives and oak rush out. It is amazing due to the fact that I haven't got a clue how this got delicate lime zest in the background. As you sip and bring in air it punctuates the tongue and nostrils. The red fruits serve as float for the this, the spice and wonderfully sprite minerality and acidity. It has the texture of a medium bodied pinot noir. Anyone that has $11 and can find this should. Tasty and very well done. I don't have a clue what to serve with this. Paul

bjwdad Citrus in a red wine? Interesting!

rckr1951 This is the 3rd or 4th that I had this over past 9 months that has had that feature. I've found it's something that I really like in the proper red. Imagine what the orange zest does to cranberries at Thanksgiving.

airdiogo I'm going to be looking for this one. The citrus made me curious.

rckr1951 When I first open this I poured into a tall wide mouth red glass and let it sit for about 20 minutes. It is worth noting that this actually started out with a grapefruit type of aroma before it moved to a more suttle lime note. It only happens if a very few of the wines I've tried and I think that it represents a sense of place, terrior (Bruce).

bjwdad I have yet to experience any citrus with a red, but I'll be looking for it now.
