The nose detects pleasant sweet woodiness which bodes well , but it's interesting that no single identifiable fruit announces itself at once (or even later). This is a beautifully balanced pinot which deserves plenty of attention and thought because it has managed the step beyond the bright pure fruit into a more complex area of understated but mixed berry and spice flavours - but without shouting its identity too loud. It's a forest rather than an orchard pinot. I really like it and happily put this up alongside some of the Otago wines in terms of quality, if not character. Worked very well with the salmon we had - but would complement other things just as well. This is the 'members only' pinot which John Lewis (UK) have managed to get hold of somehow. $20+ though.
