goldmedalwine has reviewed the Mission Trail Vineyards’ 2006 Syrah 2006

Mission Trail Vineyards’ 2006 Syrah grapes matured on the vine for longer than usual, leading to darker fruit aromas and flavors, more depth overall and great length on the finish. Reminiscent of Northern Rhone’s famous Cote Rotie wines, but with a brighter expression of fruit and terroir, this Syrah was produced from the Bianco Bench Vineyard within the San Lucas appellation of Monterey County. The recipient of a Gold Medal from the Beverage Tasting Institute’s World Wine Championships and a Gold Medal from the Finger Lakes International Wine Competition, this Syrah is an excellent portrayal of the big and robust Syrahs this vineyard is capable of. This wine also garnered a Silver Medal at the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition as well as a Silver Medal at the Florida State Fair International Wine Competition. The 2006 Syrah’s nose is full of blackberry and wood smoke aromas with hints of cocoa powder and the mouth is well-integrated with firm tannins and multiple layers of fruit, with plum and coffee notes. We recommend enjoying this wine with ripe cheeses and just about anything off the grill. Aged 8 months in oak. 100% Syrah. Enjoy now until 2015.

goldmedalwine has reviewed the Senorio de Sarria Navarra Chardonnay 2005

This is a Gold Medal Wine Club International Series selection. Fruit from Spain’s Navarra region, located near the French border, produces a vivacious straw yellow green colored Chardonnay. There’s nothing not to like about this innocuous, easy-drinking wine. As a Silver Medal winner at the Monde International Wine Competition in Belgium plus a second Silver Medal awarded at the even more competitive Challenge International du Vin in France, you will find this is the appropriate “white wine” selection for large parties. A powerful first sensation comes from the complex fruit forward bouquet of fresh apples, citrus, and pineapples, followed by a hint of a blooming hibiscus flower. The mouth is round and full. Well balanced acidity, soft, rich and refreshing on the palate. Pair this with the Paella a la Valenciana, green salads or mild cheese. 100% Chardonnay.

goldmedalwine has reviewed the Anselmo Vigne Cabernet Sauvignon 2003

This is a Gold Medal Wine Club Platinum Series selection.
The 2003 Anselmo Vigne Cabernet Sauvignon garnered 92 Points [Exceptional Rating]and was chosen as a Cellar Selection by the Beverage Tasting Institute. This wonderful Cab won a Gold Medal at their World Wine Championships. “Deep garnet purple color. Bright ripe blackberry and cassis aromas with a touch of mocha and vanilla. A round, lightly tannic entry leads to a dry-yet-fruity full body of vibrant berry fruit and brown spice flavors with crisp, juicy tartness and supple tannins on the long finish. This has plenty of stuffing for a long haul in the cellar and well balanced acidity and tannins to excel with prime rib tonight. Superb.” The Connoisseurs’ Guide posts a very solid91 Points, “From its handsomely oaked aromas to its deep and impressively filled flavors, this noteworthy young Cabernet delivers lots and lots of very pure curranty fruit as its primary theme.” The wine's extraordinary balance will allow aging for 12-15 years while offering immediate enjoyment. Aged in French oak 22 months. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Enjoy now until 2015.

goldmedalwine has reviewed the Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2004

This is a Gold Medal Wine Club Diamond Series selection.
94+ Points, Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate – “A beautiful wine, the 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve boasts classic crème de cassis, cedar, tobacco leaf, spice box, and pain grille aromas and flavors. This impeccably made, full-bodied, super-concentrated Cabernet reveals good delineation and freshness as well as surprising definition and elegance for a wine of such power and intensity. If you haven’t discovered the wines of Robert Keenan, it’s time to jump on the bandwagon as quality appears to go from strength to strength.”
5 out of 5 Stars, Decanter magazine
