Agirout has reviewed the Vila Jardim 2009 - 15.5 / 20

Citric colour. Some sweet tropical fruits like passion fruit with predominance of citric fruit. Great acidity. Elegant, balanced soft and dry. Ctric fruits in the aftertasting. Very nice. Easier than Altejo branco 2009.

Agirout has reviewed the Altejo 2009 - 14.5 / 20

Citric colour. Straight in the aroma with very intense orange skin and tangerine. It remembers me at the age of 9/13 picking tangerines too feed my hunger while playng in my parents garden in Alentejo. Very dry in the mouth with an excellent acidity. Some good bitterness that pairs well with food and makes it enjoyable all the times you sip it. Medium after tasting. Really dry white. Hard to find in these days.

bjwdad has reviewed the The Stump Jump 2006 - 96 / 100

Purchased at Whole Foods in Tempe AZ, $8.39 (30% off), 13% alcohol. If there's a bad d'Arenberg wine, I haven't found it. The price caught my eye first, then the mouthwatering blend, so I was forced, FORCED I tell you!, to buy it. Beautiful, very pale gold in the glass, maybe a touch of green. Expressive nose with tons of wet, rainy mineral - it honestly smells like a desert rain. Crisp green apple, spicy white blossoms and even a hint of green olive round out the olfactory introduction. Zingy, racy acidity greets the palate followed by creamy apple, pear & melon. This lusciousness churns right through the mid-palate into a deep, floral fruit finish. This ranks up there with the finest white wines I've ever experienced! Don't tell my wife, but I think I'm in love... ;)

These guys are really good - great choice.

I tasted their zin and chardonnay last week but haven't got around to putting the notes up on Adegga. Wines from small Sonoma producers like this are hard to find over here AND are highly priced.

Grapefan has reviewed the Pedroncelli zinfandel Dry Creek Valley mother clone 2007 - 89 / 100

Lovely purple/red colour with intense black fruit aromas and some tar also. The palate is velvety from the sweet black fruit akthough there is some spice and a lovely backbone of acidity leading to overall a well balanced wine. Good concentration and a nice rich finish. A quality zin and clearly one where care is taken in the vineyard not to overcrop.

bjwdad has reviewed the Earthquake Petite Sirah 2006 - 88 / 100

Purchased at BevMo! in Chandler AZ during their 2/1 sale, $12.52, 15% alcohol. The color is about as black as red can be; narrow deep purple ring. An early sniff revealed that vinyl aroma that I associate with big, bold reds which are wonderful after a few hours. On the nose after a couple hours: chalk dust, herbal oak, pine, chipotle pepper, blueberry jam, vanilla & pencil lead. There's also something deeply granitic. The intense mineral and herbal notes almost caused me to sneeze a couple times! Medium-juicy blueberry and cherry on the palate initially, followed by tannins and heat. Peppery fruit & citrusy acidity carry the middle and hang around for the lengthy finish. And yes, my teeth and tongue are now purple. It's great stuff, but it needs a few years to balance out. The heat is nearly overwhelming on the palate right now, but it's worth it. Now...can I hang on to the 2nd bottle for a decade or so?

Just the way I like my Petite Sirah.

Better to wait a few years for it to balance a bit... It's my type, too, but the palate hasn't caught up with the nose quite yet. Buy 10 bottles and try one each year! :)
